CREATIVE COMMONS (A MUST FOR ALL MID STUDENTS!)
my friend joi ito just posted a
FLASH ANIMATION explaining
CREATIVE COMMONS.
please check it out. creative commons is a solution against narrow minded copyright madness. as producers of culture and content we should think about the legal aspects and the way our work is protected (or sometimes locked away).

Cuento de Julio Cortázar
hola!
I mention this little story yesterday.
r
Preamble To The Instructions On How To Wind a Watch
Julio Cortázar, from Cronopios and Famas
(original in spanish)
Think of this: when they present you with a watch, they are gifting you with a tiny flowering hell, a wreath of roses, a dungeon of air. They aren't simply wishing the watch on you, and many more, and we hope it will last you, it's a good grand, Swiss, seventeen rubies; they aren't just giving you this minute stonecutter which will bind you by the wrist and walk along with you. They are giving you - they don't know it, it's terrible that they don't know it - they are gifting you with a new fragile and precarious piece of yourself, something that's yours but not a part of your body, that you have to strap to your body like your belt, like a tiny, furious bit of something hanging onto your wrist. They gift you with the job of having to wind it every day, an obligation to wind it, so that it goes on being a watch, they gift you with the obsession of looking into jewellery-shop windows to check the exact time, check the radio announcer, check the telephone service. They give you the gift of fear, someone will steal it from you, it'll fall on the street and get broken. They give you the gift of your trademark and the assurance that it's a trademark better than others, they gift you with the impulse to compare your watch with other watches. They aren't giving you a watch, you are the gift, they are giving you yourself for the watch's birthday.

Back in Kalk Post
Hi beloved students!
it was a really intense and incredibly fun and productive week. what great students you are! Back in Kalk Post we fell into a deep emptyness - no more students, no more cheese and no marble bathroom anymore - only lots of beers could get us over this dark time.
Now - two days later - we are already busy again, soldering, programming and answering stupid journalists questions like "where do you get your ideas from?" -- from the soldering fumes of course!!
We are still busy compiling all the images and projects from the workshop, here's some first infos:
http://www.fursr.com/details.php?id=46&pid=46
But we are missing some of stuff. So could you please send us the following as a last wish from les profursseurs:
- Photos of the Automatic Vibrator
- A list of projects with correct project names and the names of the students working on each project.
- A JPG of each Poster you made for your projects
We do also recommend to document your projects on a small website in some sort, each of you on his own, together or however you like (thanks to Alain for the Video!). Also small videos for each project are very good, especially if you want to take part in Awards and stuff - they will always ask for video-documentation when you submit an interactive work - and your works definetly have the potential....
And also give thanks and praise to your young and ambitious new professeur Mr. Zai who was man enough to invite us mad scientists.
Keep on soldering!
Tilman
