We are all photographers now!
The
Musée de l'Elysée has teamed up with
EPFL for an exhibition on the revolution of amateur photography due to digital technologies.
Core of the exhibition is a flux of images collected on the exhibition's
website. Everybody can upload his photographs, each of which will be displayed for 5 seconds in the exhibition.
An interesting point is that all the images will be stored at EPFL's
Audio-Visual Communications Lab in order to consitute the biggest image database available for scientific purposes to date.

"Diapositives" 1995-1998
By directly projecting a three dimensional object, mechanism in order to obtain a picture, this work (mechanisms in slide-form, or "Diapositives"), is experimenting with a different kind of cinema.
The presence of objects and elements in the slide creates its own live action. The spectator shuttles constantly between his view of the projected object and his supposition of what is really contained in the projector.
The image projected is by definition weightless. By introducing real elements I am attempting to give it a particular physical consistency.
This first work with slides is presented during a thirty minutes projection-performance which includes about twenty devices. Each "Slide" describe a very short story and the projection (with an adapted slide projector) juxtaposing them in an experimental production.
The following work "Demi-pas" is more recent and develop the concept of " inverted camera ": a computer assisted slide projector which is able to produce a "film".
MinBall
Mindball is an experience product, a game where two players control a ball with their brain waves. The player being most relaxed wins the game. The brain waves are detected by sensors attached to the headbands. The sensors (electrodes) are connected to a biosensor system. The biosensor system, registers the electrical activity in the brain so called EEG. The brain waves increasing the chance to win Mindball are called Alpha- and Theta waves. They occur when we are calm and relaxed. The players brain activity is shown in a diagram on the monitor. The player being most relaxed makes the ball roll over to the opponents goal, with his brain waves as only aid, and thereby wins the game. The outcome of the game is seldom straightforward as the transition from calm to excitement and vice versa goes very quickly. Mindball is an exciting and audience friendly game where the audience can follow the game both by watching the ball on the table and the diagram on the monitor as well as watching the more or less relaxed faces of the players. The product Mindball originates from the prototype Brainball which is developed by the Smart Studio at The Interactive Institute.
